The canon's house at the Speelhof in the centre of Borgloon is a mansion from the second half of the 17th century, built in Maasland Renaissance style and equipped with a service building in half-timbering. The courtyard is closed off by a partly preserved brick enclosure wall with a driveway gate.

The 17th-century town house was built in the center of Borgloon, on the so-called Vrijthof or Speelhof, north of the St. Odulphus Church. Archaeological research has shown that this house was built on the foundations of an older building, which may date from the 11th century. A well was also found in the basement. A thorough restoration of the 17th-century canons house took place in the early 1990s according to a design by architect J.P. Vandeplas (Tongeren).
