This is a former quarry in which gravel was obtained for road construction. As demand waned over time, the operator decided to close the quarry in 1982. Gradually, the break then ran full of water, the area was fenced and the entrance provided with a large gate. All that remained was the former transformer house, which has since served as a nesting place for birds and as accommodation for bats.
