Built in 1977, this well-known, antique-style clock is powered by steam & whistles to tell the time. The clock whistles every quarter of an hour and every hour it whistles longer. Gastown steam clock is one of the only functioning steam-powered clocks in the world. The Gastown steam clock was made by Canadian clockmaker Raymond Saunders. At the time, it was considered either the first or second steam-powered clock ever built.
