Elevators all over the world: Kollhoff Tower. The fastest elevator in Europe has been in the German capital for 15 years. At Potsdamer Platz it leads to an observation deck and offers an impressive view far beyond Berlin's center.
Incidentally, there are only six buildings in Berlin that are taller than the Kollhoff Tower - but only a few of them were in need of renovation more quickly: Less than ten years after its completion, the striking building had to be scaffolded again, as bricks were in danger of falling down due to moisture penetrating it. 101 meters high. The lowest floors are reserved for retail stores while the upper floors are reserved for offices. On the top level there has been a viewing platform since April 2000, to which the fastest passenger elevator in Europe leads. It transports passengers at a speed of 8.65 meters per second.
