The Gendarmenmarkt is one of the most beautiful squares in Berlin. It is dominated by three monumental buildings: the German Cathedral, the French Cathedral and the Konzerthaus (formerly Schauspielhaus). The changing history of the Gendarmenmarkt can be traced back to the 17th century - and every single historical phase has left its mark today.
