The German and French Dome and in the middle of the concert hall are really a beautiful ensemble on the Gendarmenmarkt. You can climb the French Cathedral for a small fee and you have a great view of the city.

A must on every tour through Berlin's center.

The Gendarmenmarkt is a square named after the cuirassier regiment Gens d'armes, which originally settled here, in Berlin's Mitte district of the district of the same name.
Created when the city was expanded in 1688, it was destroyed in World War II and rebuilt in 1976-1993.

The Gendarmenmarkt with its German and French cathedral and concert hall is a must have for every visitor to Berlin.

Beautiful ensemble of churches and houses on the Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin Mitte!

My recommendations:
1. The German Cathedral accommodates i.a. the exhibition of the German Bundestag. The free guided tour is also highly recommended.
2. The French Cathedral houses the Huguenot Museum and the 360-degree panorama from the viewing platform offers a great view of the city's most important sights: Berlin Cathedral, Alexander Tower, Humboldt Forum, Red City Hall, Reichstag, Charité, etc.
3. Guided tours (45 minutes, 3 euros per person) are also offered in the concert hall.
4. Visit to the Rausch Schokoladenhaus / CHOCOLATE CAFÉ

This year (2022) the Christmas market on Gendarmenmarkt has moved to Bebelplatz (at St. Hedwig's Cathedral and State Opera). The Gendarmenmarkt is a construction site for 2 years.

Nice place, but quite a construction site at the moment. It will probably stay that way for a while longer.

The Gendarmenmarkt is currently under construction. The whole place is behind a construction fence and it will probably be at least a year or more before the place will be a sight to behold again!
