Building dates back to the 14th century. The Schepenhuis, also known as the 'old palace', has been the seat of the Grote Raad, the highest court of justice in the Netherlands, since 1616. In a bygone era, the building has housed flasks, prisoners and investigators in ancient times.

Hiking
The Schepenhuis, built in the Middle Ages, was built around 1288 because the cloth trade made it necessary to appoint schöfe. In 1473, Charles the Bold established a parliament here and was the highest court in the Netherlands. Different uses followed. Today there is a museum here.
