The Eglegemvijver was created in the late 1960s as a sand extraction pit for the construction of the E19 motorway. The area is an important regional resting and sleeping place for birds. Especially during the winter months, the pond is increasingly popular with large groups of water birds such as the shelduck, tufted duck, pochard, grebe, coot and many more.
Definitely recommended to discover this beautiful piece of nature up close with us.
