The previous one dated from 1767 and first had a wooden, later a stone cladding. The current one with an openwork pointed crowning, provided with a gilded pear, is from 1863, first stood at the town hall and was moved to the Market during its restoration in 1902. Erected on an existing city well from 1761, on which work was done in 1782 by Simon Ketelbuters. In the night of 27 to 28 January 1973, the gilded pear was stolen by unknown persons, after which it was replaced.
