Short version of 'The legend of the devil and the market woman' based on the text by Ursula Bein:
The devil wanted revenge on the people of Aachen, who had tricked him with the soul of a she-wolf during the construction of the cathedral. He planned to bury the city in sand and dragged two sacks full of dunes from the North Sea towards Aachen. On the long journey he met a clever market woman who tricked him into believing that Aachen was still far away. Exhausted and frustrated, the devil threw the sacks down and left. The sand hills, the Lousberg and the Salvatorberg, bear witness to this legend to this day. The name "Lousberg" could come from the Oecher Platt word "lous" for clever.

One of the most famous Aachen city stories, which of course revolves around the Lousberg and the cathedral, was erected here - the devil who asks the market woman how far it is to Aachen...

A nice sculpture that reminds of the legend about the origin of the Lousberg.
