In 1985, the Goose Fountain, designed by Professor Martinsohn, was erected opposite the town hall. The bronze group of a goose herder playing the flute guards the fountain together with some geese spouting water. The sculptor Fidelis Bentele from Oberstaufen in the Allgäu region used an expressive style. The self-contained group of figures radiates an almost poetic calm. The shepherd boy is completely absorbed in his flute playing and thus makes it clear that he springs from a "deep religious commitment on the part of the artist." (Source: visit-schwetzingen.de)
