The garden was created in cooperation with Mannheim's Chinese twin city Zhenjiang (Jiangsu Province), the Klaus Tschira Foundation in Heidelberg and the East Asia Institute of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences and opened on September 12, 2001. More than 30 Chinese skilled workers were employed in the construction.
