The merchant Johannes Iver Bruun, who gave his name to Det Bruunske Pakhus, bought the property in 1780, on which there were two granaries. The storehouses were later demolished and around 1850 the brick building now known as Det Bruunske Pakhus was built on the site.

Hiking
After 1945, the building fell into disrepair until it was purchased and restored by the City of Fredericia in 1981. Today, it serves as a cultural center, hosting concerts, theater performances, and other events. The building's architecture is well preserved, with a beautiful facade and a cozy courtyard.
