Det Bruunske Pakhus was originally a large merchant's house run by the Bruun family. After 1945 the building fell into disrepair, but was bought and renovated in 1981 by the Municipality of Fredericia. The building now functions as a cultural center.

The merchant Johannes Iver Bruun, who gave his name to Det Bruunske Pakhus, bought the property in 1780, on which there were two granaries. The storehouses were later demolished and around 1850 the brick building now known as Det Bruunske Pakhus was built on the site.

The building was used until after 1945 as a residential building, warehouse, granary and furniture store, among other things. The building was renovated in 1979 and listed as a historical monument in 1980.

The Bruunske Pakhus is a historic building in Fredericia that originally served as part of a large merchant community. It was built around 1780 by merchant Johannes Iver Bruun and later continued by the Brøchner family.

After 1945, the building fell into disrepair until it was purchased and restored by the City of Fredericia in 1981. Today, it serves as a cultural center, hosting concerts, theater performances, and other events. The building's architecture is well preserved, with a beautiful facade and a cozy courtyard.
