1650, the same year that Fredericia was ruled by King Frederik III. was founded, grower Mads Sørensen built one of the very first houses in town. The house is on Kongensgade. The street was the trendiest in town at the time. Kongensgade was home to the town hall, the Latin school, the vicarage and several elegant residential buildings.

Architect Morten Røjel bought the dilapidated house in 1975 for a symbolic sum. He initiated a major renovation with the aim of restoring the house to its original condition. Attention was paid to every little detail - and a number of volunteers also made their contribution.

After 10 years of hard work, Nordstjernen appeared as beautiful as it stands today.

Nordstjernen is the oldest house in Fredericia and was built in 1650—the same year King Frederik III founded the city. Farmer Mads Sørensen erected the building at Kongensgade 25, one of the city's most prestigious streets, which also housed the town hall, the Latin school, and other elegant buildings.

In 1975, architect Morten Røjel purchased the then-dilapidated house for a symbolic price and began a ten-year restoration project to return it to its original condition. With meticulous attention to detail and the support of volunteers, the building was restored and today shines in its historic beauty.
