Nordstjernen is the oldest house in Fredericia and was built in 1650—the same year King Frederik III founded the city. Farmer Mads Sørensen erected the building at Kongensgade 25, one of the city's most prestigious streets, which also housed the town hall, the Latin school, and other elegant buildings.

In 1975, architect Morten Røjel purchased the then-dilapidated house for a symbolic price and began a ten-year restoration project to return it to its original condition. With meticulous attention to detail and the support of volunteers, the building was restored and today shines in its historic beauty.
