Langenlois City in the heart of the Kamptal wine region

First mention of (Langen-) Lois Bishop Altmann (1072 - 1091) of Passau founded a monastery on the Göttweiger Berg in 1083, which was occupied by canons. He granted the monastery tithe rights in the Krems area for material equipment. After Altmann's death, a dispute arose between the Diocese of Passau and the Göttweig monastery over the wine tithe. In order to be able to assert claims to the tithe, the monks made records of donations of goods and also a letter of foundation from Altmann and dated it 1082. In Göttweiger tradition codes, which were created in the years 1120 - 1135, but which refer to Bishop Altmann's lifetime, the Göttweig monastery claimed, among other things, the wine tithe from Krems and Langenlois.

Beautiful wine-growing town in the lower Waldviertel, there are many hiking opportunities here, but you can also explore the area by MTB.
