One of the famous 100 Climbs - this beauty is steep at the bottom, then gradual and then savage for 100m at the end. Great descent off the other side heading on toward Buttertubs and the heart of the Dales

Top 100 Climbs 78Leaving the village of Nateby on the B6270 you are immediately faced with a 20% sign and the prospect of some hard work.
Although steep the 20% rating is somewhat of an exaggeration. Following this stiff opening the road bends to the right then levels out, crossing a gaping cattle grid to roll along, affording a respite to the rider. Dip down then climb hard again. Another leveling and you're into a 17% section, twisting slightly and taking you past a disused quarry on the left. Now on a very well worn, smooth road you find a long and exposed ride across the flatter moor but the ascent is far from over. Ahead the road banks right and heads skyward, the dramatic finale to this long climb. The final testing, super-smooth section with a sheer drop to your right is marked 14% but seems harder as your legs scream from the effort to get up here. Roll round the left-hand bend to reach the barren windswept top.

Lovely climb out of Nateby. Tough start with only a little respite before the final ramp greets you. It's steep. Grind it out, or attack in the hope of summiting before your legs blow? Depends if you have young, strong legs. lol...
