*not really. But sometimes the idea of remaining seated is very appealing.

      Highlights:

Ridiculous headwind up and over Dovestones, and an incredibly close call with a car door.

Two bikes, two riders and a bunch of Yorkshire's best steep lanes, draggy uphills, verdant valleys, bumpy downhills, flies in your face and yes, sunshine.

Great to get out again with Jam and a beautiful day to return to the outdoors in the UK.

That building is the Mesa Laboratory of the National Center for Atmosphere Research, and it's brilliant.

Starting there with rain falling,I dropped down a claggy red clay mud path leading to a wet slog through forest that brought me to the bottom of Shadow Canyon: 600 vertical metres of winding rocky

Red Rocks Amphitheatre might just be the most stunning open air venue. Today, however, unseasonal heavy (very heavy) rain and 4°C meant the main arena was closed but I could still peer down and appreciate the dramatic setting. Nearby I enjoyed a short circular walk around the stunning rock formations

NB This report is long - primarily for my own records...

During the hour’s drive to the trailhead along perfect tarmac roads from Boulder I saw only three other cars, and at the ranger station car park I was entirely alone in the dead of night. Silent and already at 2860 m / 9380 ft, the atmosphere was

Borrowed my pal's pooch, Sabi, for this extended tour of the local trails. So full of history - a fully functioning steel producing facility was once operational here - now it's woods, rocks glistening with mica, trails, streams, bat caves and ticks galore. Beautiful morning out with the canine.

New York's coastline is fascinating and diverse. Industrial dereliction, engineered sea defences and scrubby dunes and wetlands are just a sample of the environments I passed through on this glorious walk. Was nearly cut off by the tide going around the western tip of Coney Island, but then the pristine
