This only Swedish foundation located on German soil was built between 1733 and 1741 in the heart of the old town of Barth. Spacious apartments were created that were occupied by unmarried women and widows, for example.
Today it is used for assisted living for seniors.

The Noble Fräuleinstift was founded between 1733 and 1741 by the Swedish Queen Ulrike Eleonore. The building complex was built in the baroque style. Originally built to provide for unmarried noble daughters, the building now houses senior-friendly apartments. The facility is the only Swedish foundation on German soil.
