From 1894 to 1952 there was already a chapel on the same spot, which was equipped with an altar of Mary. The current church was built between 1952 (laying of the foundation stone) and 1953 and two side wings were added in 1970/71. The bell tower, which is a good 25 meters high, was only built in 1976/77. The patron saint of the church is celebrated on September 14, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.
