Goppeln became known as a painter's village at the end of the 19th century. A group of young artists formed an artist colony here and dedicated themselves to outdoor painting in the spirit of impressionism. Here in Goppeln there is also a monastery of the Nazareth Sisters of St. Francis with a guest house and café. Across the street are some beautifully prepared farms that have their origins in the late 18th century.
