This rest area is located on the dam of the Querfurt flood retention basin. The 140-meter-long, 60-meter-wide, and seven-meter-high dam allows crossing the Querne River, and walking paths run along both banks. The basin can hold 385,000 cubic meters of water; in a worst-case scenario, the temporary reservoir created would grow to a length of 1.7 kilometers. The basin was put into operation in 2019, and a good four million euros were invested in its construction.
