The Thaldorf Pentecost Boys, founded in 1987, are one of the largest clubs in Querfurt. Year after year, they host the traditional Pentecost Festival in Thaldorf, the popular Fountain Festival on Garlic Wednesday, the Wednesday after Pentecost, and the Thaldorf Advent Market on their well-maintained fairgrounds on the Querne River. At the Fountain Festival, a Fountain Lord is elected each year. Since 1863, this person has traditionally been responsible for overseeing the cleaning of the Braunsbrnnen spring. With Thaldorf's connection to the water mains, this task ceased, but fountain lords continued to be elected. Today, it is an honorary title for well-known and deserving Querfurt residents. The tradition has only been interrupted from 1915 to 1923 and from 1942 to 1946 due to the World Wars, and from 1964 to 1988 because they did not fit the social image of the GDR leadership.
