With ARALANDIA, the zoo has realized the largest project in its history to date. In the almost 1,100 square meter large and up to 10 meter high free-flight aviary, hyacinth macaws, sun conures, Chilean flamingos and pudus are given an attractive home in one of the largest macaw aviaries in Europe.

The latest completed achievement in the Wuppertal Green Zoo. A free flight aviary housing endangered macaws, parakeets and other species in the conservation breeding program. Beautiful, species-appropriate facility!

The Aralandia is a unique facility where macaws live largely freely and can be wonderfully observed. It is part of a macaw breeding program: macaws can choose their own partners here. The birds are equipped with transmitters so that their social life can be researched. There are climbing shafts between the outdoor enclosure and the enclosed, hidden enclosure, which, if necessary, technically allow a bird to be captured with as little stress as possible. On the high walkway you get really close to the wonderful birds and you can feel the breeze as they fly over you.
