The High Gate (Brama Wyżynna) is a relic of the mighty ramparts that were built along the western city limits from 1571 and demolished at the end of the 19th century. His only adornment is a triumvirate of coats of arms that pays homage to Poland, Royal Prussia and Danzig. Today there is an excellent and competent tourist information for Gdansk and the province of Pomerania in the High Gate.
