Experiencing history up close, getting a firsthand impression, is truly possible here. --- Erich Honecker was, so to speak, the top gangster, the dominant ruler of this socialist state. - Also unusual, indeed absolutely astonishing, is the unrestricted access. All the houses are open, the properties are unfenced. No prohibition signs, just informative little information panels. - You can even walk all the way around.
