In front of the central part of the facade stands the Melanchthon statue.
Today's building was built between 1860 and 1862 in the round arch style.
A Latin inscription on the street-side facade (DOCTRINAE - SAPIENTIAE - PIETATI) dedicates to the building of erudition - wisdom - piety.
The building was abandoned in 2004 as part of a school reform. It then became the shared location of the adult education center, music school and library.
