The Klopstock House of the Quedlinburg Municipal Museums is the birthplace of the poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock, one of the founders of classical German literature. At the time, he was read more often than his contemporaries Goethe and Schiller. Today, the Klopstock House contains a literature museum that provides information about Klopstock's life and work, as well as about other Quedlinburg personalities. The house is registered in the Quedlinburg register of monuments. A library and an archive are attached to the museum. Immediately to the east is the house Schlossberg 13, which is also a listed building. At the western end of the garden is the pavilion of the Klopstock House.

The birthplace of the poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock (1724-1803) was built around 1560 below the Quedlinburg castle hill and is one of the numerous architectural monuments of the World Heritage city of Quedlinburg. The city's first museum was established here in 1899. Since then, the Klopstock House has given an impression of the poet's life and work. By expanding poetic language and the art of verse, Klopstock played a key role in shaping the new literary trends of his time. His epic works ("The Messiah") and his poetry (odes, hymns, elegies, songs) impressively mark a turning point in the history of poetry and are seen as a foundation on which classical German literature was able to build and from which later generations of poets received significant inspiration.
