Via Dr. Josef Streiter

The Streitergasse (Via Dr. Joseph Streiter), formerly the northern moat of the city, runs parallel to the arcades. It connects Obstplatz with Bindergasse from west to east.The alley was named after Joseph Streiter, legal scholar, poet and mayor of the city of Bozen in the second half of the 19th century. The two pointed arches, the large arch at the passage of the Zallinger tower and the old town houses of the Dr.-Joseph-Streiter-Gasse give it the medieval flair, house number 25 corresponds to the entrance to the old town hall.At the entrance to Dr.-Joseph-Streiter-Gasse, where the fish market used to be, you can now find the marble "Fischbänke", an original street pub with numerous billboards. It is ideal for balmy summer evenings. A few meters further on is the Bozen Film Club, a small cinema with three halls, where the “Bozen Film Days” also take place. Like the rest of the historic center, this is a restricted traffic area.
