The former Catholic rectory of the Kürten community was built in 1771 under Pastor Pool, as can be read on the chronogram above the entrance door. It was built in place of a previous building that was in a "neglected" condition. The building was thoroughly renovated in 1857-59 and a commercial part was added. It served as the priest's apartment and official residence. The priest lived in the neighboring building until the 17th century Wiedenhof, which he managed himself with a maid and servant. This parish property belonged to the cathedral chapter of Cologne and represents the origin of the settlement of the town of Kürten - Curtine. The youth home now stands on the site of the Wiedenhof.

"... "Located on the old mountain road leading from Cologne to Bergisches Land, the church was the baptismal church and gathering point for the first believers for a large, sparsely populated area." The only thing that remains today is the tower, the oldest witness.

According to medieval ideas, the fortified tower made of carved quarry stones stands for protection in the west, which symbolized evil and demonic, while the choir room with altar for celebrating the Eucharist is in the symbolically bright and good east (rising sun). The tower dome is decorated with two Christian symbols: the cross and the rooster as a symbol of vigilance in memory of Peter's threefold denial of Jesus.
