The old farm Het Ooievaarsnest is located on the edge of the swampy Abeek valley in Grote-Brogel. The building owes its name to the many storks that lived there. According to oral tradition, this was the birthplace of the painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1525/1530-1569).
