Sevensmolen Windmill

The Sevensmolen is what is known as a post mill: the entire mill revolves around a huge wooden spindle attached to brick pins. This allows the mill to turn and the sails to face the wind.
This mill was originally built around 1745 in Helchteren. In 1853 it was moved to the center of Overpelt. In 1962 the mill was finally relocated to its current location in the Heesakkerheide.

The Sevensmolen in the municipal hiking park Heesakkerheide is still functioning. It was originally located elsewhere as you can read in the tips above. There is also a lot of information on signs about the mill and windmills. There is also a museum nearby and in the park you will also find a natural work of art.
