The Hofje van Cincq (also Cincqenerf) is an almshouse of mercy founded in 1700 on the Nieuwehaven in the Dutch city of Gouda.
The wealthy lawyer Cornelis Cincq, son of Gouda mayor Gerard Cincq, had never been married. He died in 1698. According to a notarial deed, he was in love with Alida Wagtendonk, the daughter of a local preacher. After his death, he gave her his home on Hoogstraat. He donated a quarter of his estate to the Reformed parish for the construction and construction of several houses, to be lived in by poor people for free.[1] An amount of NLG 16,245 was available for the foundation of the courtyard.[2] The courtyard with twelve houses was constructed on the north side of the Nieuwehaven.
