About Ria Van Den Heuvel

This morning appointment and late afternoon appointment. But because the weather is so nice, we took a walk along the Maas in between and took the path along the dammed Maas over the dike. The first photo I took was of bangs with a wig, if that doesn't make your day ...... 😁
A low-flying army helicopter followed the course of the Maas, going only a little bit faster than us.
We left the sand lakes behind us and past the golf course we walked straight through the pasture to the egg roundabout, home with a short distance along the Provincialeweg through the new neighborhood. Lovely that sun and fresh air, it makes you a happy person again and we were home right on time.

It was too good to be true ... we left for Culemborg with beautiful weather 🌞 and ended our walk early due to 2 rain showers 🌧
And that wasn't the only thing 😕. We wanted to walk the Kuilenburgerpad (Flower also walked it recently👍😉), followed by the Goilberdingerpad. I had taken Flower's route, but unfortunately, komoot had other plans (again) and adapted the route on its own. We are also not faint, have not listened and have gone our own way 😜. It was a nice trip with nice, unpaved paths. Then walked on, under the railway bridge to the Goilberdingerpad. It is beautiful along the Lek! But we had just finished our slice of bread, took our first steps on the path and then it started to rain (2nd shower), with snow and hail, so after a while we decided to go back to the car and the rest of the beautiful Goilberdingerpad for the next time.
And guess what ..... we are home and the sun is shining again. Home sweet home 😂

It really shouldn't get any crazier, Loes and I went out with the sun, really. And then the temperature is immediately more comfortable.
But unfortunately it only lasted until we walked into the floodplains along the Waal at Rossum. Sun gone, headwind and even rain with sleet came our way.
But as always, that didn't spoil the fun. A lovely stroll over barbed wire, through mud and puddles, lots of chat and laughter, in short ... enjoy !! On the way back to the other friend for a cup of coffee and more chat. That's what we do it for!

Uninspiring short Sunday walk with gray clouds, rain and cold wind. Not even Pietje had her day.
Back home for the stuffed tomato soup with baguette. And let the sun come out 🌞

We ran our 6th round (Nederhemert-Heusden) on March 6th. Now we continue with Heusden-Hedikhuizen (round 7). I must add that most of the preparatory work has already been done by Rikit😉. Isn't it great such a fellow comooter.
This round we have adjusted a little bit because we already 'done' Heusden last time.
From the parking lot at the wharf we walked up the dyke towards the ferry and further to Hedikhuizen, here we left the dyke and entered a cozy village complete with old church, avenue with pollard willows, flowers, meadows and (it is really true) a real camel or is it a dromedary? I can't tell the two apart, maybe a mnemonic will help with that 2 🤔.
Then further along fort Hedikhuizen, where unfortunately they had nothing 'to go'. Bus shelter provided a solution for our own coffee, because it was now starting to drip. Then a personal contribution to the route, an unpaved path along pasture / ditch and from there along the defensive canals of Heusden, now raining wet, back to the car
PS: I also sprinkled some flowers in between, otherwise it would only be a gray walk!

This turned out to be an unexpectedly strange walk.
It was one of Rikit, looked nice, was also fun until komoot stopped the planned tour and peaked regularly !! We were allowed to find out for ourselves. So it became a search for the watchtower 😕. Fortunately it was still a bit in my head, just not where the watchtower was. Consulted Google map, but that got us further off the path 😳. After some wanderings, we ended up at holiday park Herperduin, where we spent a week years ago with children and grandchildren. And gosh, after some inquiries: turn right, left and at the end you will see it ... found! That's what we went for, the view! But I also found out why I was afraid of heights ..... the height 🤣
All in all, still a nice walk with good weather, wonderful peace and singing birds.
      Thank you Rikit 👍

We took the gamble, but take a walk today. Not in nature, too muddy. Margret and Jeroen's walk in Tilburg (thank you) was still in the planning, so that was it. Slightly adjusted due to the cold wind and rain, but we cannot complain. We did not climb the Kempentoren because of it. the altitude, too wet and too windy!
A nice city walk Tilburg with a little art and greenery, lots of fresh air and rain.

      Today a walk of extremes.
The sun regularly peeped through the clouds and then the walking virus starts to itch. So we looked at each other for a moment and used few words. My walking shoes, belt, jacket and hat on and off we went again.
Walk nearby: the Heerewaarden floodplains! The sun was shining brightly, beautiful area, but in the distance we could already see the problems approaching. The wind started to blow (almost storm) and to snow, at that moment I was happy with my belt 😉. It went like this a few times, but we were glad we were out for a while. Hanging out on the couch is not for us!

After sitting inside for a day (except for a quick visit to Pietje) and good food and drink, where the dessert of tonight was really not possible anymore, we decided to take a short walk after all. And then a round of Zandmeren is just enough to still enjoy the dessert afterwards 😊

Both to the JHA this afternoon, but we still had some time for a little walk in the neighborhood. We had already cycled past the Wheel of Rosmalen a few times, so a good reason to explore that area. And I have to say .... it's worth it. Nice unpaved paths, some sand drifts (or just big sandboxes), a small climb in it so that you can look over the treetops and a good dose of fresh air, that is good for people!
