Molen 't Slot stands near the old town center, in a beautiful spot along the Hollandse IJssel River on the city ramparts. The dark green beard with a white border reads: 't Slot ANNO 1832. As early as 1581, the city council granted permission to build a grain mill on this site on the foundations of the recently demolished castle of the Heeren van Ter Gouw.
Since the 2019 Heritage Day, the management of this mill has been under the control of the Association of Gouda Millers.
