An enormous complex of ruins and remains of old temples, residences for monks, bathing areas and even a hospital.
Partly due to the holiday in Sri Lanka, it was incredibly busy with locals.

Not a long hike but it had become quite warm by then and the altitude meters add up quickly.
Always nice to see on the descent that others are having an even harder time.

Our driver dropped us off just outside Ella at the start of a path that leads down to the bridge.
Once down there, it would still take a while for the train to arrive, so we looked for a coffee shop. Best cappuccino outside of Italy.

The former Dutch Fort Frederick has enormous walls and inside the fort is an enormous kovil (Hindu temple). A bizarre contrast with the bastion where this impressive structure is situated.
Once again a very beautiful temple in a very unique location.
