The Latemse Meersen are located in the north of the municipality of Sint-Martens-Latem along the right bank of the Leie. The total surface area is approximately 130 hectares. The area is largely characterized by flowery wet hay and meadows. The relief as a result of the intense river action is very pronounced for the Latemse Meersen. The moist basin soils are bordered by inland dunes to the south and riverbanks along the Leie. In the northwest you will find a donk, which is a washed-off dune, with offshoots of fossil riverbanks.
