Since 2008, Herdwich sheep have been ideal allies in the Latemse Meersen. These rare animals originate from the English Lake District, where they brave a harsh climate in the high mountains and are accustomed to poor vegetation. The fairly compact, robust sheep are extremely suitable for managing wet grasslands in the Leie valley, with their thick, waterproof coat and sturdy legs. Thanks to their help, the vegetation becomes more varied.
