The Stepenitz is an approximately 84 km long, sand and clay-shaped lowland river and right tributary of the Elbe in Brandenburg and is one of the cleanest rivers in Germany and is largely undeveloped in the upper reaches. In the “Elblachs 2000” project, the Stepenitz and its tributaries form the central water system. The river valley was designated as a Stepenitz nature reserve in 2004.
