This is one of the more than 300 knight stones of the Palatinate Forest Association (PWV). The inscription on this knight stone includes the following story:
A little further down the Glasbach - on the large forest meadow in the Glastal - the "Glastalerhof" used to stand on the site of a former glassworks, "which was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Later, an agricultural property was built there. From 1784, a Johann Gerber lived on the farm. It was through him that the farm was given the name 'Gerbershütte'. Gerber lived in the Glastal until 1812 and then moved to Enkenbach. From then on, the farm remained uninhabited and fell into disrepair." Source (partly quoted verbatim):
Article by Klaus Frölich in the "PWV Magazine" (issue 1/2019, page 8).

This knight's stone with a small rock cave is listed in the "List of Knight's Stones" (on Wikipedia) as a "forgotten knight's stone" because it was forgotten in the standard work by Walter Eitelmann ("Knight's Stones in the Palatinate Forest"). de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_Rittersteine

Not easy to find. You have to go a bit off the path, up the slope.
