Since 1950 a cloudy sky has adorned the barrel ceiling of the evangelical parish church in Lüderbach. The church stands as a long, stretched-out hall on a raised spot in the town. Romanesque masonry from the 12th century has been preserved in the former defense tower in the north-west corner. The choir was built in its current form around 1500. The impressive winged altar, which was rediscovered intact in the attic of the church in 1904, probably dates from the same period. It is considered to be one of the few late Gothic winged altars preserved in Germany. The wooden barrel ceiling was installed in 1785. The church is an official cycle path and pilgrim church.

The open Lüderbach church was built between 1329 and 1445 as a fortified church, some remains of the wall date back to the 12th century. The church originally had a different roof construction. The barrel, as the current roof is called, was built in 1785 and gives the church its special character.
