An interesting anecdote about the Carrefour des Roses Breton Memorial concerns the nickname of the soldiers of the 87th Territorial Division. These Breton reservists were affectionately called "Les pépères", which means "the grandfathers". Despite their age and the fact that they were reservists, they fought bravely during the first gas attack on 22 April 1915.

The Carrefour des Roses Breton Memorial commemorates the French Breton regiments who fought in the area of Boezinge (Ypres) during the First World War. This monument was erected in memory of the soldiers of the 45th (Algerian) Division and the 87th Territorial Division, who suffered heavily during the first gas attack on 22 April 1915. The monument consists of a calvary and a dolmen, both from Brittany.
