Hiking

The Blankaart is located on the right bank of the Yser, above Diksmuide. Once the habitat of the otter, now a paradise for nature and its lovers. The Blankaartpad takes you past beautiful bird watching places in these wet polders. At dusk you can hear the peculiar foghorn sound of the bittern here. Between April 15 and September 15 you can sail on the whisper boat and enjoy life in the Blankaart swamp. You will find all the information you need in the impressive castle, which has been set up as a Provincial Visitor Centre.
