Dieburg was protected in 1220 by building a city wall 1.3 km long, surmounted by 9 towers. Of these towers, only the mill tower survived.

    Tower height: 18.50m

Wall thickness on the ground floor: 1.50m (decreases towards the top)

Tower diameter: 6.20m (increases slightly towards the top)

    Dungeon diameter: 3.25m

It got its name from the mills located outside the city walls. The lower part of the mill tower contained a dungeon that could be reached from the first floor through the so-called fear or hunger hole. The condemned were lowered "riding on a knot of rope" into the darkness and narrowness of the dungeon and only pulled up again after the sentence had been served. Today's ground-level access was created only recently.

Corner tower of the city fortification. It is the last of what used to be nine towers in the 1.3 km long city wall. Temporarily used as a dungeon
