Today the weather is so much better than yesterday. So, on Shrove Sunday, we enjoyed a lovely walk from Herschkepp across the Oberfeld to the farm of the same name (☕️ and delicious pastries 😋) and then back via Rosenhöhe.



It's wonderful how the Oberfeld opens up and gives you a sense of spaciousness

We had snow (at the start), then sleet, rain, drizzle, snow drizzle, but also just dry, windy, and unpleasant weather 😁.

The hike began with thick fog at the Arheilgen cemetery. But the fog soon lifted, the sun came out, and a first hint of spring arrived. For the first half of the hike, we followed the waterways. Beautifully sparkling, lots of waterfowl. Quiet, pleasant paths. A lovely, relaxed walk.

From Semd through the forest to Dieburg and back via the Hehneswiesen meadows. This is usually one of our go-to routes when we can't think of anything better or the weather isn't conducive to longer excursions. But today was very interesting in terms of microclimate 😁. The forest was surprisingly wintry

From Wörth am Main along the path to the Seltenbach Gorge. Wonderful even in winter, it evokes that Karl May feeling (In the Gorges of the Bal... er... Spessart 😁). And today, we had it all to ourselves.

Rossdorf... past Rehberg towards Traisa. Lots of forest, wonderfully bright at this time of year and with today's beautiful weather. Sparkling water again and again in the soft light of this January day. A snack of bread and sausage 😁 at the Eleonorenbrunnen fountain. It definitely tastes completely

What weather! Elli (the storm) spared us yesterday in southern Hesse (at least where we live) and gave us a brief taste of early spring.



Today it's getting increasingly colder again. We started out in a very light drizzle, then there was nothing at all... and from Steinbornhohl onwards, there was snow

We started in Groß Bieberau wearing sunglasses, then enjoyed the interplay of light and clouds, and later – especially up at Lichtenberg Castle – we even encountered some heavier snowfall. The constant, however, was the sometimes biting wind, which revived our spirits 😉.
