Vester Vedsted Church dates back to around 1175, when it was founded on the dune in Vester Vedsted. It was originally a tufa church.

On the north side of the church, the tufa wall has been preserved from the base to the windows. The church had no tower until the 15th century. After a lightning strike in 1845, the tower burned down. However, the church was saved thanks to the resourceful efforts of the local population, which consisted of filling the door to the church with turf.

Originally, the church was dedicated to the Catholic sailor St. Andrew. The church has no original frescoes. The current fresco decoration in the chancel dates from 1916.

The altarpiece and the painting of the Last Supper date from the early 18th century. Above is the painting with two Renaissance figures, Peter and Paul. The figures in the niches on either side of the altar depict the Father holding the globe and Christ as the Good Shepherd. The base of the panel is decorated with seven small reliefs of Old Testament prophets and kings.

This section likely originates from an older altarpiece.

The pulpit dates from 1625 and features four reliefs: the Annunciation, the Shepherds' Adoration of the Infant Jesus, the Circumcision of Jesus, and his Baptism in the Jordan.
