Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen's statue of Queen Dagmar, 1913, the statue stands on slots banks in Ribe.
On the castle hill ("Slotsbanken") in Ribe, where the proud Riberhus Castle was located at the time, a young woman stands lonely and majestic in the stern of a boat. She peers into the country that is now supposed to be hers - thanks to her marriage to the Danish King Valdemar Sejr. As the king's daughter from Bohemia, it is clear to her what difficult obligations are to be expected, but that does not depress her. Upright and secure, even with beautiful, flowing clothes waving around her shapely body and the veil over her long curls, she raises her crowned head to the future. The waves lather promisingly around the boat and indicate the life that they bring with them to the Danish countryside. As it is written on the base: "It came without heaviness, it came with peace, it came to the aid of the good peasant."

Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen (1863-1945) was obviously inspired by the classic goddess of victory Nike from Samothrace in the portrayal of the beautiful and mild Dagmar, at the same time she is also influenced by the gently curved Art Nouveau of contemporary art. In this way she combines the noble past with the living present in her work with bronze - and at the same time paints a picture of a woman who was aware of her high birth, but who was nevertheless able to be on the side of the weak as a queen .
