The Havelberg water tower was built in 1890 as a brick building according to plans by the Havelberg master mason Fritz Broder and the master carpenter Pastor.
The tower was rebuilt in 1933 and got its current height of 34.50 m. It served as a water reservoir until the beginning of the 2000s. Then the water was supplied from deep wells with appropriate pumping systems.
Nowadays there is a restaurant on the tower, while the tower itself is not used.
In accordance with the Monument Protection Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt of October 21, 1991, the water tower was entered as a cultural monument in the state's monument register.
The tower is located on the corner of Karl-Liebknecht-Str./Cotheniusstraße opposite the cathedral cemetery.
