The cathedral, a former monastery of the Premonstratensians, is located on a hill above the city. The so-called "Dean's Garden" of the Protestant parish, located right behind the cathedral, therefore offers a wonderful view over the Havel meadows. While the BUGA 2015 was designed as a herb garden, the monastery garden is now being cared for and maintained as part of the "Spirituality at the Cathedral" project and made accessible to visitors. In the meantime, the monastery garden has been supplemented by other medicinal herbs and Bible plants such as wine, figs and olives as well as exhibition boards on the history of the monastery gardens and monastery medicine. Here you will find a colorful mix of well-known herbs and medicinal herbs from our traditional medicine such as sage, thyme, marigold, various mints, but also lavender, mallow, marshmallow and southernwood. Symbolic plants such as columbines, peonies and lilies, but also apothecary, wild and fragrant roses, currants and gooseberries and various tea plants can also be found in the garden. In the responsibility for the preservation of creation, we consistently cultivate the garden biologically in order to create an oasis for people, animals and plants. The garden provides food for bees, bumblebees, butterflies and dragonflies, but also for toads and birds.Be inspired by the beauty and variety of herbs and their healing effects. Look, smell and taste the richness of God's creation.gartenakademie-sachsen-anhalt.de/unsere-gaerten/garten/26
