A brilliant grade 1 scramble, we dropped down from the top of Scafell pike to go up Scafell via this route, I would suggest if you are a confident and sure footed hiker then this is the route for you.

This Highlight is for the adventurous walker and needs to be undertaken with care. It will add variety and fun to your route and with care is fairly safe if tackled in good clear weather. It is accessed by dropping down from Mickledore saddle and keeping close to the northern face of Scarfell until you reach a scree gully - this is Lords rake. The climb is a scramble with a chock stone at the top. Following the path over another dip and scramble will lead you out onto the south western slope of Scarfel.

Update - I believe that the chock stone at the top of this scramble is no longer there. The stone is the diagonal feature stone in picture 3.
