The pedestrian bridge over the Mülheim harbor is also referred to as Katzenbuckel because of its curved shape of the Cologne. From the top you have a beautiful view of the harbor and the Mülheimer bridge.

The Mülheim harbor bridge, the prestressed concrete bridge also known as the “Katzenbuckel” over the entrance to the Mülheim security harbor, provided the first connection from the northern part of the city over the peninsula called “Katzenkopf” in front of the harbor with the youth park located on the banks of the Rhine and the Rhine Park further south towards Deutz / downtown.

"... The Katzenbuckelbrücke spans the entrance to the Mülheim harbor. It connects the Mülheimer Ufer at the level of the Hafenstrasse on the right bank of the Rhine with the northeastern tip of the youth park on the Mülheim Rhine half-island called "Katzenkopf". To the south is the Rhine Park. Both parks are for Leisure activities and used as local recreation areas.

In order to provide the population of the Mülheim district with access to the Rhine, the first design for building a bridge over the Mülheim harbor was developed in 1937. A steel structure with a staircase should freely span the entrance to the harbor. The project was scrapped for cost reasons.

In 1955, the Cologne architect Gerd Lohmer designed today's bridge. Lohmer added a sketch of a mythical animal to his design in order to visually illustrate the "animal elements" inherent in the bridge arch with a curved back, feet, head and tail. So she jumps over the harbor, the Dragon Bridge, now also called the Katzenbuckel Bridge.

The Mülheim harbor bridge was constructed by the Kölner AG für Ingenieurbau Wayss and Freytag. The bridge was declared a listed building on May 19, 1989. ..."
