The south bridge is a railway and pedestrian bridge over the Rhine in Cologne. On the left side of the Rhine it forms the border between Cologne-Neustadt-Süd and Cologne-Bayenthal, on the right side of the Rhine between Cologne-Deutz and Cologne-Poll.

A long-time resident of Cologne told me the following anecdote many years ago (but to understand it you have to understand the Cologne/Rhine dialect at least to some extent):
Question: Why is it called “South Bridge”?
Answer: Because you can see the cathedral from there (because you can see the cathedral from there)
